Role Overview

The Retail & Education Manager, a key figure within the Commercial team, leads the Retail & Education division across Australia and New Zealand (ANZ). This position spearheads the drive for retail sales growth while executing educational and training initiatives in collaboration with key brick-and-mortar retail partners. The manager partners with the Senior Commercial Manager to align all retail and educational strategies to meet KPIs, including retail and wholesale sales as well as operating profit, emphasizing commercial success with retail stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead retail sales efforts across ANZ for all Kendo brands.
  • Develop and implement annual retail and education strategies aligned with company goals and retailer needs.
  • Conduct continuous market research and gather field insights to discover new opportunities for sales growth.
  • Collaborate with internal Commercial and Marketing teams to integrate brand and sales objectives.
  • Cultivate strong partnerships with retailer field and store leadership to ensure effective implementation of sales plans.
  • Manage the Retail & Education Team to support new product launches, store openings, brand initiatives, and monitor outcomes to optimize performance.
  • Address and escalate in-store support issues, including inventory, visual merchandising, and maintenance.
  • Produce regular sales reports by region and store, providing actionable store insights and market feedback.
  • Represent Kendo brands professionally both in person and via social platforms.
  • Support direct in-store sales as necessary.
  • Design and deliver enriching education content across multiple formats including classroom, digital, LMS, and experiential training.
  • Maintain robust engagement with retailer beauty advisors through specialized education programs, adjusting as business needs evolve.
  • Plan and execute marketing and education events strategically with cross-functional teams to drive commercial results.
  • Oversee training asset management, gratis allocation, swag distribution, and budget management for education and travel spend across ANZ.
  • Liaise with global Kendo brand and education partners to fulfill local education requirements.

Candidate Profile

  • Minimum of 5 years in management or leadership roles, preferably in multi-retailer settings or within the beauty industry.
  • Demonstrated expertise in training facilitation and strong sales acumen.
  • Experience managing remote teams is highly advantageous.
  • Self-driven and results-focused with robust problem-solving capabilities.
  • Adaptable leader able to thrive in dynamic, fast-paced environments.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written, including public speaking and social media engagement.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools at an intermediate to advanced level (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
  • Time management, organizational, and execution skills are essential.
  • Must hold a valid driver’s license and be able to travel as required.
