About Officeworks
Officeworks is a large Australian retail business built around customers, team members and the wider community. The company operates with a strong focus on speed, innovation, fresh ideas, great value and dependable service, supported by close to 9,000 people across more than 173 stores nationwide.
The culture is described as energetic, collaborative and supportive, with an emphasis on learning, having fun, achieving goals, helping customers discover better solutions and contributing positively to the community.
The Role
As Retail Department Leader, you will play a hands-on leadership role on the shop floor. The position is focused on creating great customer experiences, guiding the team, and keeping the department well presented and ready for trade.
- Use strong customer service skills to understand needs and recommend complete solutions rather than simply processing sales.
- Work alongside store leadership to motivate the team and connect everyday tasks to better customer outcomes.
- Coach, train and support team members so they grow in confidence and become trusted retail performers.
- Maintain strong merchandising and stock presentation standards so customers can quickly find the products they need.
About You
The ideal candidate brings leadership experience in retail along with a genuine passion for delivering memorable service and practical solutions. You should be an effective communicator who builds trust easily and can inspire both customers and colleagues.
- Demonstrated experience leading in a retail environment.
- A customer-first mindset with a focus on solution selling.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to motivate and connect with others.
- Enjoyment of coaching and developing team members.
- Comfort working in a busy, changing environment with shifting priorities.
- A practical, hands-on approach and willingness to step in wherever needed.

Benefits
- Flexible working arrangements designed to help with work-life balance.
- Staff discounts across Officeworks, Geeks2U, Bunnings, Kmart, Target and other Wesfarmers brands.

- Employee Assistance Program and other wellbeing initiatives focused on safety, mental health and support.
