Role overview

This contract-based Research Associate position in Lexington, MA is focused on hands-on laboratory work that supports several projects aimed at fast-tracking therapy evaluation and clinical translation. The role centers on experimental execution, data analysis, and close collaboration with a research team.

Core responsibilities

  • Support siRNA drug-candidate work, including screening, hit selection, and lead refinement.
  • Carry out cell and molecular biology experiments such as mammalian cell culture, in vitro screening, cell-based assays, RNA extraction, and RT-qPCR.
  • Review, analyze, and summarize experimental data for discussion in team meetings.
  • Keep accurate lab notes, maintain experimental documentation, and prepare SOPs and technical write-ups when required.
  • Partner with colleagues to rapidly resolve key scientific questions tied to drug efficacy.
  • Stay current with relevant scientific literature and contribute insights that help guide research direction, while primarily contributing through direct laboratory work.

Qualifications

  • A master’s degree in Cell and Molecular Biology or Pharmaceutical Sciences is required.
  • At least 4 years of related drug-discovery laboratory experience in either industry or academia is preferred.
  • Strong grounding in cellular and molecular biology techniques is essential, including mammalian cell culture, cell-based assays, and quantitative real-time PCR.
  • Background working with primary human adipocytes and hepatocytes is preferred.
  • Exposure to advanced in vitro systems such as organoids or other 3D culture models is highly preferred.
  • Experience with RNAi and in vitro screening is preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are expected.
  • The candidate should demonstrate strong work habits, collaborative behavior, and the ability to contribute effectively in team-based projects.
  • Applicants must be able to carry out experiments reliably, interpret results accurately, and drive projects forward toward clear objectives.

Compensation and benefits

The posted base pay range is $48.37 to $48.37 per hour. Because this is a non-exempt role, overtime is paid at 1.5 times the base hourly rate for hours worked beyond 40 in a workweek, or as otherwise required by applicable state or local law. Final compensation depends on relevant skills, education, and experience.
