Research Associate, Immunology Research

Overview

UCB is seeking a collaborative, meticulous, and proactive Research Associate to join its Immunology Research team in Slough, UK, supporting the Immune Memory focus area (Windlesham 2027). The position contributes to UCB’s Patient Solutions portfolio by helping identify, advance, and evaluate therapeutic molecules through research and clinical development.

Role purpose

This position is centered on producing and interpreting translational data that informs scientific choices and helps uncover new treatment opportunities in immunology. You will work closely with the Principal Scientist and partner with project teams and other stakeholders to move innovative therapeutic concepts forward.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and execute in vitro studies that inform target biology and project-level decisions.
• Build and operate translational assays using advanced cell-based systems and immunology methods.
• Collect, evaluate, and interpret data from in vitro, in vivo, and ex vivo experiments.
• Share results with project teams and participate in scientific discussions.
• Keep laboratory work, records, and compliance standards to a high level.
• Help maintain a supportive, inclusive, and team-oriented research environment.

Candidate profile

The ideal candidate holds a BSc or MSc in Immunology, Biology, or another life sciences discipline and brings a solid grounding in immunology across disease areas. Prior industry exposure is preferred. Practical experience with cell-based assays, co-culture systems, flow-based methods, or 3D models will be valuable, as will familiarity with HTA regulations. Knowledge of flow cytometry and molecular analysis techniques is also important.

Skills and competencies

You should be able to communicate clearly, stay organized, interpret data effectively, and handle several priorities in a fast-moving research setting. A willingness to learn and a strong interest in scientific progress are essential.
