About the Role
Mannington Mills, Inc. is seeking a skilled Repair Technician to join our Quality Control department, based in Calhoun, GA. Candidates will work primarily on first shift (7:00 AM to 5:00 PM) from Monday to Friday, although flexible hours including overtime and weekend work will often be required. The role demands physical endurance and attention to detail to ensure high standards in carpet repair and inspection processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Verify SKU accuracy for carpet products.
- Carry out detailed inspections of carpets for defects.
- Mark any defects or repairs clearly and accurately.
- Confirm carpet width, style, and color specifications.
- Conduct bow/skew assessments and sidematch procedures.
- Identify defect codes for reporting and analysis.
- Perform repairs and cutting on both greige (unfinished) rolls and finished rolls.
- Re-measure carpets as part of quality control checks.
- Complete related administrative tasks efficiently.
- Maintain and sharpen cross-cut knives used in the repair process.
- Handle housekeeping duties to keep the work environment safe and clean.
- Undertake additional tasks assigned by supervisors.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Minimum education: High school diploma or GED.
- Physical ability to stand for long periods (up to nine hours per 10-hour shift) and perform bending/kneeling tasks.
- Capability to work up to 14 hours a day on short notice.
- Ability to lift weights up to 80 pounds regularly.
- Comfortable working on hands and knees moderately during tasks.
- Skilled at pulling and threading greige goods through roll-up machines and navigating steps on repair tables multiple times per shift.
- Must pass color vision assessments: Ishihara plate test and FM-100 color test with a score of 50 or less.
- Strong communication skills and computer proficiency, preferably with SAP experience.
- Experience repairing both greige and finished goods is required.
Training and Certification
- Approximately two weeks of supervised training with a qualified associate is mandatory.
- Possession of a certified lift truck operator (LTO) license is required, with recertification every two years.
Safety and Work Environment
- Strict adherence to corporate safety policies and security guidelines is mandatory.
- Prompt reporting of any unsafe conditions to supervisors.
- Use of safety glasses is required during lift truck operation and compressed air usage.
- Follow proper lifting techniques and maintain safety practices with tools such as scissors and air hoses.
- Handle carpet cleaning chemicals with caution, including wearing eye protection when using equipment like the GTO 2000.
- Strictly drag cores instead of pushing to avoid trip hazards.

Overtime work may be required based on production needs.
