Job description
About the Role
Amazon is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Renewable Energy Manager to join the Ops Global Engineering, Materials and Sustainability (Ops GEMS) team in Bengaluru, India. This role is crucial in driving customer satisfaction through engineering excellence, focusing on the development, operation, and optimization of on-site solar and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) across India. If you have a strong passion for solar energy, extensive experience in solar and BESS development, and a data-driven approach to performance engineering, this is an opportunity to significantly impact the future of commercial and industrial-scale renewables.
The position entails end-to-end responsibility for Amazon's India solar and BESS portfolio, encompassing design review, asset management, regulatory adherence, performance engineering, and strategic growth. You will oversee solar and BESS installations throughout India, contributing to the global network managed by Ops GEMS. The ideal candidate embodies Amazon's core principles: deliver results, bias for action, ownership, and insisting on the highest standards.
As a key member of the Ops GEMS team, you will be the primary regional contact for all solar and BESS systems in India. You will collaborate with internal and external partners to ensure pipeline development, optimal performance, safety, and reliability. Your responsibilities will include providing analytical insights into asset performance, spearheading strategic planning for renewable energy deployment, owning the multi-year onsite roadmap for India, and driving improvements in the operation and maintenance of solar and battery technologies. The ultimate goal is to achieve safety, peak performance, efficiency, cost optimization, quality, customer satisfaction, and profitability for Amazon.
Key Job Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the Ops GEMS team to ensure the safe and optimal performance of solar and BESS systems across India.
- Take ownership of the multi-year onsite roadmap and strategy for renewable energy and BESS deployment in India.
- Analyze market trends affecting renewable energy and storage strategies to identify opportunities for Amazon's onsite renewable energy and/or BESS solutions.
- Work with key stakeholders to contract and implement renewable energy and/or BESS solutions.
- Align the region with new operational and maintenance processes for solar and storage systems, and propose enhancements to existing procedures.
- Act as a subject matter expert for optimizing solar and battery performance, serving as an escalation point for complex problem-solving on live and commissioning assets.
- Manage incidents, lead Root Cause Analysis (RCA), document lessons learned, and disseminate this knowledge to other regional asset managers for global portfolio enhancement.
- Oversee subcontractors and maintenance vendors to ensure high-quality service delivery.
Basic Qualifications
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in technical infrastructure management.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related field.
- Proficiency with analytical tools.
- Experience in technical program management.
- Skilled in using Microsoft Excel for data manipulation and analysis, translating data into actionable insights.
- Possession of solar and safety certifications and relevant training.
- Understanding of solar market dynamics and emerging opportunities, such as smart grids and battery storage.
- Demonstrated expertise in communication and managing multiple concurrent projects.
- Experience in renewable energy development, including site assessment and solution design.
