Role overview

Johnsons UK Services Ltd is looking for a dependable Removals Porter to support moves in the Winsford area. The role focuses on handling office and household furniture carefully and helping ensure items are moved safely and efficiently.

What you'll do

  • Prepare belongings for removal or storage with appropriate packing methods.
  • Protect furniture using specialist wrapping materials and packing cases, including for overseas shipping.
  • Visit sites before a move when needed to pack delicate belongings such as china, glassware, artwork, and antiques.
  • Use protective packaging for fragile items including computers and antiques.
  • Dismantle larger furniture pieces to make them easier to move.
  • Take down curtains and lift carpets when required.
  • Remove doors, door frames, or windows if that is necessary to move bulky furniture in or out.
  • Load packed items into vehicles and make sure they are secured properly for transit.
  • Confirm that all goods are safe and secure before departure.
  • Travel to the destination, unload the items, rebuild larger furniture where needed, and place items as requested by the customer.
  • Remove wrapping materials and unpack cartons after delivery.

Working arrangements

This is a flexible role, with work provided as and when required. Some longer-distance moves may involve overnight stays in accommodation or in a vehicle.

Requirements

  • A valid driving licence is essential.
  • Prior experience in removals or a similar role is preferred.
