About the Role
Johnsons UK Services Ltd is seeking a commercially astute and experienced Head of Projects to spearhead the expansion and successful execution of its commercial relocation and workplace projects division. This pivotal role, based in the London/South region, integrates operational leadership, client engagement, financial oversight, and project delivery across a spectrum of services including office relocations, furniture installations, workplace transitions, and storage logistics.
The chosen candidate will be instrumental in guiding projects from their inception to successful completion, ensuring optimal profitability, streamlined operations, high client satisfaction, and adherence to stringent service standards.
This is a senior leadership opportunity ideal for individuals with substantial experience in commercial moving, fit-out projects, logistics, facilities management, or workplace transformation initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Spearhead the planning, coordination, and successful execution of commercial relocation projects.
- Manage a portfolio of concurrent projects, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and service level agreements.
- Provide leadership to project teams, site supervisors, external contractors, and operational personnel.
- Conduct thorough site assessments and develop comprehensive move strategies, schedules, and risk mitigation plans.
- Guarantee that all projects are conducted safely and in compliance with company protocols and regulatory standards.
- Address and resolve operational challenges promptly and effectively during active projects.
- Prepare detailed quotations, bids, and project financial estimates.
- Monitor project profitability, profit margins, and overall financial performance.
- Negotiate terms for contracts and agreements with suppliers.
- Identify avenues for revenue enhancement and improvements in operational efficiency.
- Contribute to business expansion by promoting additional services and nurturing robust client relationships.
- Cultivate enduring partnerships with corporate clients, facilities management teams, project managers, and procurement departments.
- Participate in client meetings, site inspections, and project review sessions.
- Ensure the delivery of superior customer service and maintain elevated levels of client contentment.
- Lead, inspire, and foster the professional development of operational and project management teams.
- Contribute to recruitment, training programs, and performance evaluations.
- Champion a positive, professional, and safety-conscious ethos throughout the organization.
- Drive enhancements in internal workflows and encourage a culture of continuous improvement.
- Ensure project adherence to health and safety legislation and internal company policies.
- Manage RAMS (Risk Assessment Method Statements), insurance prerequisites, and operational documentation.
- Oversee compliance standards across all project activities.
Requirements
- Demonstrated experience in commercial relocations, logistics, workplace services, fit-out, or analogous sectors.
- Proficiency in project management and commercial management practices.
- Exceptional organizational capabilities and leadership acumen.
- Capacity to manage multiple projects concurrently without compromising quality.
- Experience in budget management, quotation preparation, and financial reporting.
- Strong client-facing communication and interpersonal skills.
- Solid understanding of health and safety regulations.
- Possession of a valid UK driving licence.
- (Desirable) Project management certifications such as Prince2 or PMP.
- (Desirable) Health and safety qualifications like IOSH or NEBOSH.
- (Desirable) Experience in workplace change management or office fit-out projects.
- (Desirable) Familiarity with furniture installation and storage logistics operations.
