Job description
Role Overview
Think Academy Online is looking for a part-time English Language Arts teacher to deliver engaging live lessons for young learners. This position is remote and offers a flexible schedule of about 12 to 20 hours per week. The expected start is as soon as possible.
About the Organization
Think Academy Online is an education technology company focused on K–12 supplemental learning. Its teaching approach combines research-backed instruction, carefully designed reading experiences, and strong curriculum support to help students build confidence and academic growth.
What You Will Do
In this role, you will teach online ELA classes centered on reading, speaking, and writing. You will use the company’s curriculum materials to plan and run lessons, manage a virtual classroom of around 10 students, and support learners through grading, feedback, and progress tracking. You will also communicate with parents about student performance and participate in teacher training, curriculum conversations, and ongoing professional development.
Candidate Profile
The ideal teacher is a native-level English speaker with strong American English fluency and experience teaching elementary ELA in U.S. public, private, or charter school settings. Experience with grades 1 through 4 is especially valuable. A bachelor’s degree in any discipline is required, while a background in Education, English, or ELA is preferred. Applicants should understand early literacy development, reading instruction, and writing support, and feel comfortable teaching online and managing a virtual classroom.
Compensation and Benefits
Pay starts at $35 USD per teaching hour. In addition, non-teaching work is compensated at $16 to $20 per hour, covering preparation, grading, parent communication, feedback, and similar duties. Teachers may also qualify for a student retention bonus based on performance. Additional pay may be provided for lesson planning, training, and teacher development.
Schedule and Commitment
The role usually involves 12 to 20 hours per week. Teaching is commonly scheduled in the afternoons and evenings in U.S. time zones, along with weekends. A commitment to at least one full semester—spring, summer, or fall—is preferred.
Equal Opportunity Statement
Think Academy is an equal opportunity employer. Hiring decisions are made without discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, protected veteran status, or disability.
