Role Overview

We are currently seeking Relief Home Support Workers for a variable hour contract based in Waterford, Co Waterford. The position involves delivering adaptable home care support to elderly clients, as well as adults, young people, and children with disabilities. The objective is to empower and enable clients to live with dignity and respect, maintaining their independence within their home and community environments.

This is a permanent role featuring competitive starting hourly rates of €15.50, with an ongoing pilot program offering enhanced rates beginning at €16.13 until December 31, 2026.

Key Duties

• Provide care and support services at clients’ homes, focusing on older individuals and those with disabilities.
• Promote and assist in preserving clients’ dignity and independence within their community surroundings.
• Enhance clients' quality of life by supporting their autonomy and wellbeing.
• Report any changes in clients' health or wellbeing promptly, adhering to set protocols and the organization's code of conduct.

Candidate Requirements

• Possession of a full, clean driving license and access to personal transportation, both mandatory.
• Relevant QQI Level 5 Healthcare qualification or equivalent preferred; however, on-the-job QQI Level 5 training (covering care skills and older person care) will be provided.
• Prior experience working with elderly individuals and/or persons with disabilities.
• Experience in providing home care services is advantageous.
• Ability to work flexible hours to meet the operational requirements of the service.

Additional Conditions

• Report directly to the Home Support Coordinator/Care Planner Manager.
• Complete the CareLink training program and QQI Level 5 Fetac modules during the induction period.
