Job overview
This role is focused on managing a portfolio of corporate banking customers while also expanding the book through the development of new client relationships. The objective is to support overall financial targets by deepening existing relationships, originating new business, and identifying opportunities that fit the bank’s strategy and risk appetite.
Core responsibilities
- Look after the assigned corporate portfolio, regularly assess account performance, and recommend suitable credit solutions aligned with business strategy, expected returns, and risk parameters.
- Identify and pursue new business leads within target market segments, including opportunities in syndication and structured finance.
- Grow relationships across client groups and ownership structures, and promote products and services from other business lines through cross-selling.
- Manage external follow-ups such as client calls with proper call reports, documentation tracking, operational issue resolution, account and facility utilization checks, payment regularization, site visits, and market intelligence gathering.
- Handle internal coordination by following up with credit review teams, documentation units, credit approval stakeholders, operations, and related business areas to keep processes moving smoothly and on time.
- Draft and structure term sheets, pre-screening memoranda, financial models, risk rating tools, and profitability analyses.
- Collect and organize all information needed for new credit submissions, and work with the credit product group on proposals, financial spreads, and modeling.
- Build and maintain trusted relationships with key decision-makers in the portfolio and use those relationships to generate new business in line with strategy.
- Represent the bank in emerging debt and capital markets opportunities and help position the bank as a strong participant in the treasury and capital markets space.
- Work closely with relevant internal groups and divisions to deliver structured solutions efficiently and within required timelines.
- Stay current on market movements, regulations, competitive developments, and industry trends.
Skills and experience needed
- Strong account relationship management capability.
- Clear and effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Solid credit knowledge with relevant tertiary qualifications.
- Ability to assess credit risk and analyze financial information.
- Prior experience in credit-related roles.
- Skill in preparing financial spreads and building financial models.
- Confident credit presentation and proposal skills.
