Job description
Role overview
This opportunity is for a Reimbursement Specialist in Canada, offered through a hiring partner that handles the application process and all follow-up steps. The role is central to helping patients gain access to prescription treatments by coordinating reimbursement routes and working closely with insurers, healthcare professionals, and funding organizations.
You will help make sure coverage is secured accurately and without delay by managing both public and private reimbursement channels. The position calls for precision, organized coordination, and the ability to work across several stakeholders within healthcare and insurance settings.
Your work will include gathering and submitting supporting documents, monitoring approvals, and making sure funding criteria are fully satisfied. The environment is regulated, fast-moving, and focused on patient outcomes, so analytical thinking and strong people skills are essential.
Once funding is approved, you will also assist with pharmacy-related workflows and help maintain compliance with reporting obligations, including adverse event tracking. This is a high-impact role where your efforts directly support patient access to essential medicines and therapies.
Key responsibilities
- Manage the end-to-end process for obtaining prescription drug coverage through public, private, and federal reimbursement programs.
- Serve as the point of coordination between insurers, physicians, patients, and other healthcare stakeholders to improve reimbursement results.
- Compile, organize, and send all required forms, applications, and supporting records to insurers and funding bodies within required timelines.
- Conduct financial means testing and related eligibility reviews to help uncover the broadest possible coverage options for patients.
- Follow each case through to completion, resolving missing items, tracking progress, and ensuring accuracy at every stage.
- Assist with pharmacy operations after funding approval so patients can receive medication smoothly.
- Build and maintain strong knowledge of reimbursement pathways, funding programs, and related healthcare processes.
- Keep all reporting and escalation requirements up to date, including documentation related to adverse events.
Requirements
- Post-secondary education in a relevant discipline, or an equivalent mix of schooling and work experience.
- At least 2 years of experience in customer service, healthcare administration, insurance, or another office-based setting.
- Working knowledge of reimbursement systems, healthcare funding processes, or pharmaceutical and insurance workflows is an advantage.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with patients and healthcare providers.
- Excellent organization, prioritization, multitasking, and deadline-management abilities.
- Careful attention to detail, along with solid analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively in a team setting.
- Experience in pharmaceuticals, healthcare, or insurance is considered a strong plus.
- Bilingual English/French ability is an added advantage.
- Comfort working in a structured, compliance-heavy environment with regular stakeholder interaction.
Benefits
- Competitive annual compensation ranging from CAD 44,300 to CAD 68,090.
- Health, dental, and vision insurance coverage.
- Paid vacation time and paid parental leave.
- Family-oriented support benefits, including caregiver and dependent care assistance.
- Mental health and wellness support resources.
- Training, mentorship, and professional development opportunities.
- Inclusive, collaborative workplace culture.
- The chance to contribute to meaningful healthcare outcomes that help patients directly.
