Role overview
The Chicago Regional Sales Manager will steer the daily sales operation, P&L outcomes, and retail execution for V&V Supremo Foods Inc. in the Chicago market. The position is responsible for guiding a field-based team to deliver profitable expansion, improve trade spend efficiency, and execute both in-store and headquarters strategies across regional grocery customers. The role also includes supporting customer headquarters relationships within the Chicago area.
Team leadership and management
- Direct, develop, and motivate the local Chicago sales team.
- Set clear daily priorities and hold the team accountable for sales, profitability, and execution goals.
- Carry out regular field visits, performance evaluations, and team huddles.
- Foster a work culture centered on urgency, ownership, and measurable results.
Customer, headquarters, and account management
- Oversee execution across grocery retail accounts in the Chicago market.
- Build relationships with grocery headquarters contacts and important decision-makers.
- Handle headquarters-related support duties as needed within the Chicago market.
- Maintain a strong in-store footprint, secure distribution gains, and ensure promotional programs are carried out properly.
- Work with customers to grow the category and increase shelf space.
P&L and trade spend ownership
- Take responsibility for the Chicago market P&L and manage it closely.
- Drive profitable growth through disciplined financial oversight.
- Plan, monitor, and improve trade spend performance and return on investment.
- Use trade dollars strategically to increase volume, distribution, and velocity.
- Measure performance against budget and refine plans to maximize ROI.
Retail execution and market growth
- Keep merchandising standards, demo activity, and in-store activation consistently strong.
- Lead execution of promotional programs and other commercial initiatives.
- Review store-level results and adjust tactics to improve product movement.
- Spot and pursue new distribution and growth opportunities.
Planning, reporting, and market intelligence
- Monitor and communicate weekly performance against sales, profitability, and execution goals.
- Collaborate with leadership on forecasts, promotional plans, and market strategy.
- Share insights on competitor actions and market trends in the Chicago region.
Qualifications
- At least 5 years of experience in CPG sales, retail, or food distribution is preferred.
- Background leading field sales or retail teams is required.
- Strong grasp of grocery retail, headquarters selling, and P&L management is needed.
- Experience handling trade spend and measuring promotional ROI is expected.
- Ability to deliver results in a fast-moving, highly competitive market is important.
- Strong communication, coaching, and organizational abilities are necessary.
Compensation
Base pay is $110,000 to $120,000, plus a vehicle allowance and a sales incentive bonus.
