Role Overview

Based in Florida or the Carolinas and operating remotely, this position requires approximately 60% travel within the Southeastern US. As Regional Business Director, you will spearhead dealer acquisition, development, and retention while leading Business Development Managers (BDMs) to meet revenue, margin, and market share goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily activities and accountability of assigned BDMs to ensure strong field execution aligned with regional targets.
  • Strategically develop and execute growth plans alongside BDMs and dealer partners in-market.
  • Maintain robust field presence to engage dealers and OEM partners, resolve issues promptly, and identify growth potential.
  • Facilitate onboarding and hands-on training for BDMs to enhance dealer relationship management capabilities.
  • Monitor BDM performance, delivering targeted coaching to optimize regional success.
  • Collaborate with Mercury OEM teams and sales leadership to ensure cohesive market strategies and share responsibilities.
  • Regularly report on competitors, programs, and market trends based on direct field insights and customer feedback.
  • Mitigate sales conflicts through direct relationship management among Mercury, dealers, and OEMs.
  • Build and nurture strong dealer and OEM relationships through consistent, in-person communication and follow-ups.
  • Coordinate with category management to support existing product lines and facilitate successful new product launches.
  • Represent Mercury at national and regional events, actively promoting products and generating sales opportunities.
  • Recruit, develop, and retain top-performing talent, fostering a high-achieving field sales team.
  • Act as a liaison across sales, service, and marketing teams to support program implementation and customer satisfaction.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Proven record of outstanding sales achievements and ability to identify new business opportunities.
  • 5-10 years of experience working with dealer organizations or similar environments.
  • Demonstrated success in the marine or powersports industry, with knowledge of marine dealer networks.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with excellent organizational ability.
  • High business acumen and capability to analyze market inputs for demand planning.
  • Skill in managing diverse personalities tactfully, professionally, and flexibly.
  • Experience in coaching and motivating field teams effectively.
  • Customer-focused persuasion skills ensuring satisfaction remains paramount.

Preferred Skills

  • Familiarity with Mercury products and marine technical knowledge.
  • Previous marine industry experience.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish.
  • Strong presentation and leadership skills.
  • Understanding of sales and advertising laws.
  • Budget management and policy administration knowledge.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office and adaptability to job-specific software.
  • Determined, responsible mindset to ensure tasks completion under any circumstance.

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range is $118,400 to $174,000 annually, with actual pay depending on qualifications, experience, business needs, and location. This role also qualifies for an annual discretionary bonus.
