Role Overview

We are seeking a Refuse and Recycling Labourer to join our Waste Services team. This role involves assisting in the collection of refuse and recycling materials, contributing to a clean and attractive local environment. The working schedule is four days a week, Tuesday to Friday, from 7:30 AM to 5:15 PM.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out refuse and recycling collection duties as directed by management.
  • Work collaboratively within a team to maintain high standards of service delivery.
  • Ensure all assigned daily tasks are completed and report unresolved operational issues promptly to supervisors.
  • Utilize required technology effectively and support its ongoing development.
  • Participate in training programs and assist in the development of colleagues.
  • Contribute actively to the broader goals of the Waste Service and the Council.
  • Demonstrate excellent customer service by engaging positively with residents and associated organizations.
  • Adhere to health and safety policies, maintaining personal health and fitness standards, including regular medical evaluations.
  • Properly use and report any defects in equipment or vehicles involved in your duties.
  • Ensure all internal and external customers receive consistently high-quality service aligned with Council standards.

Candidate Requirements

  • Basic proficiency in numeracy and literacy relevant to the role.
  • Understanding of effective customer service principles.
  • Strong communication skills for effective interaction with team members and the public.
  • Previous experience in operational roles is preferred.
  • Experience driving refuse and recycling vehicles is advantageous.
  • Commitment and enthusiasm for delivering high calibre public services.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to meet changing work demands.
