About the role
Join Cascades in Nanaimo as a Recycling Sorter and contribute to turning recovered materials into usable products in a workplace that puts health and safety first. The team takes pride in environmentally responsible work and in building products with care for the planet.
Compensation and benefits
- Pay starts at $19.62 per hour and increases to $20.17 after 3 months.
- This is a full-time position with guaranteed hours, offering greater job security.
- The regular schedule runs from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday.

What you will do
In this role, you will work on the plant floor and help keep material flow organized, efficient, and compliant with production needs.
- Sort, grade, and place recycled materials in the correct areas while following production standards and safety expectations.
- Follow company policies and required safety procedures at all times.
- Carry out daily housekeeping tasks assigned by supervisors.
- Support additional duties assigned by the Lead Sorter or Supervisors, including yard and plant cleanup as well as office paper sorting.
- Adjust to a recycling environment that continues to evolve and expand.
- Handle grading and sorting of bulk loads of loose materials.

- Strong hand-eye coordination.
- Ability to remain standing for the full shift.
- Comfort working in a plant setting with seasonal exposure to both heat and cold.
