Job description

Role overview

This position sits within the Food & Beverage and Culinary area at The Pearl Island in Doha, Qatar. It is a full-time, non-management role focused on leading kitchen activity, supporting food preparation standards, and helping deliver a polished guest dining experience.

Key duties

  • Lead and coordinate the work of cooks and kitchen staff.
  • Plan how food should be plated and create attractive food displays.
  • Check that portion size, presentation, and garnish standards are met.
  • Monitor the amount of food being prepared to avoid waste and shortages.
  • Keep the food and beverage team informed about rejected items and daily menu specials.
  • Prepare special meals or arrange suitable substitutions when needed.
  • Support cooks and kitchen colleagues with a range of tasks.
  • Provide the kitchen with the ingredients and items required for service.
  • Track kitchen supplies and food stock levels.
  • Maintain kitchen records in line with food safety and product safety programs.
  • Ensure food quality standards are met and escalate any product that does not meet specifications.
  • Assist management with hiring, training, scheduling, performance review, coaching, discipline, motivation, and staff development.
  • Follow all company and safety policies and procedures, report accidents, injuries, and unsafe working conditions, and complete required safety training and certifications.
  • Maintain a neat, professional uniform and personal appearance, protect confidential information, and safeguard company assets.
  • Respond to guest service needs in a professional manner.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with team members and other colleagues.
  • Build positive working relationships and support the team in achieving shared goals.
  • Listen to and respond appropriately to employee concerns.
  • Meet quality standards and service expectations consistently.
  • Perform physical duties for extended periods, including standing, sitting, walking, reaching, bending, twisting, and lifting or moving items weighing up to 25 pounds without assistance.
  • Carry out other reasonable job duties as requested by supervisors.

Required experience and qualifications

  • Technical, trade, or vocational school qualification is preferred.
  • Relevant work experience of 4 to 6 years is required.
  • At least 2 years of supervisory experience is required.
  • No license or certification is required for this role.
