Recycling Sorter

Role overview

GFL Environmental is hiring Recycling Sorters for its Materials Recovery Facility in Winnipeg, Manitoba. This position is based onsite at Mazenod Rd and involves an early-morning schedule with a 5:30 am start time.

The job focuses on sorting recyclable materials efficiently while supporting both internal teams and external stakeholders with a high standard of service. It is a strong fit for someone who cares about environmental sustainability and wants to help build a cleaner, greener future.

What you will do

• Separate recyclable materials from incoming waste streams, including paper, glass, plastics, and metals.
• Check materials for quality and remove items that do not belong in the recycling process.
• Follow all safety procedures to help maintain a secure work environment.
• Use sorting equipment as required and support its basic upkeep.
• Contribute to smooth recycling operations through accurate and timely work.

What you need to bring

• A genuine interest in environmental sustainability.
• Ability to communicate in English, including speaking, reading, and understanding job instructions.
• Comfort working in a physically demanding setting, with long periods of standing and the ability to lift moderate weights.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to quickly recognize and sort materials correctly.
• A collaborative attitude and good communication skills.
