Job description

Role overview

We are hiring an experienced, target-oriented Recruitment Consultant to join the Technology team in Bristol. Four consultants are needed, each aligned to one of these specialist areas: Data Science & Machine Learning, Cyber Defence, Cyber (regional), and Systems Engineering within Defence.

What you will do

In this 360 recruitment role, you will build and maintain strong relationships across both large and small businesses. You will regularly connect with recruitment teams, directors, line managers, and other senior stakeholders, while focusing on placing highly skilled candidates into contract positions in a fast-moving market.

The role is centred on growing a successful desk through long-term client partnerships, consistently achieving sales goals, and expanding business opportunities over time.

Your team and working environment

The Bristol office is one of the strongest-performing teams in the UK and is based centrally near Temple Meads. The workspace has recently been updated to support an agile environment alongside a hybrid working model. Over the past year, the office has achieved multiple records across the 15 industries it supports.

The team includes more than 50 consultants who are focused on hard work, integrity, and making a positive difference. They are also involved in community initiatives such as employability projects with local charities, equipment donations to schools, employment workshops for school leavers, Ukrainian refugees, and local colleges.

Outside work, the team takes part in social activities such as barbecues, bake-offs, quizzes, and friendly internal competitions. Monthly, quarterly, and annual incentive programmes are used to recognise strong performance and team contribution.

You will be part of an inclusive, collaborative, and motivating environment with strong training and development support.

Main responsibilities

  • Grow partnerships with new clients and candidates and guide them through the recruitment journey.
  • Source candidates and carry out detailed interviews using internal CRM systems and other recruitment tools.
  • Manage the full recruitment cycle from shortlist to offer and through the onboarding stage.
  • Work closely with stakeholders to understand hiring needs and deliver recruitment solutions.
  • Contribute to a high-performance desk by consistently driving sales activity and results.

Required experience and profile

  • At least 12 months of experience working as a Recruitment Consultant or in a more senior recruitment role.
  • A proven history of business development success.
  • A highly motivated and ambitious approach with the ability to stay resilient through the pressures and setbacks of recruitment.
  • The confidence to inspire others and help drive team success.

What you can expect

  • A culture that recognises achievement and offers strong earning potential.
  • Eligibility for the Hays Elite 2026 trip to Mauritius.
  • Industry-leading training and technology to support rapid progression.
  • Flexible hybrid working arrangements.
  • A fully paid day off on your birthday.
  • The chance to develop an international career.
  • Local, regional, and national incentives that reward strong performance.
  • A wide range of wellbeing initiatives and employee benefits.
  • A referral bonus scheme.
  • Access to supportive internal networks.
  • Paid volunteering days through the Working for Your Tomorrow initiative.

Why join

The organisation offers strong career progression, a respected brand, advanced tools and infrastructure, and a purpose-led environment. The wider culture is built around inclusion, diversity, growth, and meaningful work, with ongoing commitment to DE&I, Net Zero, and global volunteering and fundraising through Helping for your tomorrow.
