Role Overview

The Records Management Specialist will create, roll out, and maintain a records and information management program that aligns with federal laws, regulations, and agency policies. The role covers the full record lifecycle, including both digital and physical records, to ensure records are created, maintained, used, and disposed of properly.

What You'll Do

  • Build and update records management policies, procedures, and retention schedules in line with the Federal Records Act and NARA guidance.
  • Perform records inventories and evaluations to determine what must be kept and what can be disposed of.
  • Work with the program office to apply retention schedules and maintain compliance.
  • Administer electronic records systems, including assigning retention labels and tracking disposition activities.
  • Train and support staff on records practices and related legal obligations.
  • Track compliance through audits and reports, and suggest corrective actions where needed.
  • Help maintain quality control so work performed meets or exceeds established standards.
  • Support clear communication within the team and with project stakeholders so everyone stays aligned on goals and updates.
  • Carry out additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Applicant must be a US citizen or an Australian citizen.
  • Must hold a US TS/SCI clearance with Counterintelligence Polygraph or an Australian PV clearance.
  • An associate degree in Information Science, Library Science, Public Administration, or a related discipline is preferred.
  • At least 3 years of experience managing a technical library or a similar information resource is preferred.
  • Strong organizational abilities and solid IT skills are required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, along with strong interpersonal skills.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Ability to adapt to changing technologies, conditions, and requirements.
  • Good judgment and decision-making skills, especially when resolving issues under pressure.

Additional Information

This role is based in Alice Springs, Northern Territory, Australia, and is fully onsite (100%). It is contingent on contract award.
