Job description
Role Overview
We are seeking a proactive and personable receptionist to join our Urology department, providing a welcoming experience to patients and visitors at our busy clinics. The role involves managing telephone inquiries alongside offering essential administrative support to our nursing staff. A strong commitment to patient-centered service and excellent interpersonal skills are necessary.
Key Duties
- Deliver an effective front-desk service including face-to-face and telephone interactions to facilitate smooth patient flow.
- Register incoming patients, ensuring accurate entry of demographic and episode data using patient administration systems.
- Utilize Trust IT applications to support patient pathways, including maintaining accurate logs of admissions, transfers, and discharges.
- Coordinate outpatient appointments and, where required, arrange ambulance transport for patients.
- Respond promptly and efficiently to queries from patients, relatives, and the multi-disciplinary team via telephone or in person to ensure quality information sharing.
- Manage administrative responsibilities such as typing, filing, copying, fault reporting, and scheduling follow-up appointments, ensuring continuity of clinical services.
- Ensure all patient discharges are recorded accurately and timely on relevant systems daily.
- Provide clerical assistance to senior nursing and clinical staff including the Sister, Nurse-in-Charge, and Senior Clinician.
- Order and maintain ward supplies following Trust policies.
Additional Information
This appointment is on a fixed term basis for 12 months. The closing date for applications is 16 July 2026, with interviews scheduled for 30 July 2026.
