About the Opportunity

United Utilities is seeking five dedicated Rangers to assist in the care and protection of some of the North West England's treasured natural landscapes and recreational areas. In this role, you will be instrumental in safeguarding land, water, and key assets, while ensuring that visitors experience safe, welcoming, and inclusive environments across multiple sites.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain site standards by conducting regular inspections, performing upkeep, and carrying out improvements to ensure cleanliness and safety year-round.
• Manage visitor safety and facility operations by promoting responsible enjoyment of the sites and quickly responding to incidents or emerging operational challenges.
• Contribute to environmental conservation by identifying risks, supporting habitat and biodiversity projects, and protecting water quality across catchment areas.
• Foster positive relationships with visitors, local communities, volunteers, contractors, and partner organizations as a trusted United Utilities representative.
• Monitor condition of estate assets, report maintenance issues, and identify areas to enhance accessibility, visitor experience, and infrastructure.
• Collaborate with colleagues and external stakeholders to assist with events, address anti-social behavior, and adjust to seasonal operational demands or adverse weather conditions, maintaining a visible on-site presence.

Candidate Profile

• Relevant qualifications or experience in countryside management, environmental conservation, recreation, or land stewardship.
• Hands-on practical skills in maintenance of infrastructure, visitor amenities, and outdoor facilities.
• Physical stamina and adaptability to work on varied terrain and in all weather conditions.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, with a proactive mindset and confidence engaging independently with diverse groups including visitors and partners.
• Possession of a valid driving license and availability to work a rolling 3-week rota including weekends and seasonal peaks.

Work Pattern

The shift schedule consists of 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM and 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM shifts arranged in a 3-week rotation totaling 3, 5 and 7 working days respectively.

Additional Information

You will be provided with a company vehicle to efficiently travel between sites in your assigned region. The organization evaluates every application personally without the use of automated screening mechanisms.
