Job description

Role overview

Swissport is a major aviation services provider supporting ground handling, cargo handling, and passenger services for more than 300 million travelers each year. The company focuses on delivering consistent, tailored solutions worldwide to help create a stronger customer experience. Its culture is built around three core values: showing care, doing the right thing, and succeeding together.

This opening is for a Ramp Agent / Baggage Handler role in a busy airport setting. The position supports day-to-day ramp operations and involves hands-on work on the tarmac, including baggage and cargo handling, cabin cleaning support, and aircraft pushback assistance. The work environment is safety-driven and fast-moving, with schedules that may include early mornings, late shifts, weekends, and coverage across a 7-day, 24-hour roster.

Key duties

  • Efficiently load and unload baggage from aircraft.
  • Move luggage safely between the aircraft and the terminal or baggage areas.
  • Handle bags repeatedly, including items weighing up to 35 kg.
  • Work outdoors in changing weather and in restricted spaces where required.
  • Coordinate with teammates to keep baggage and cargo movements accurate and on schedule.
  • Support sorting, loading, and unloading processes for departing and arriving flights using both equipment and manual handling methods.

Candidate profile

The right person will be comfortable with physical, repetitive work and able to adapt to variable airport schedules. Strong safety awareness, clear communication, basic computer knowledge, and a willingness to learn are important for success in this role.

Employment conditions

This is an on-site position with variable shifts aligned to airline operations. Applicants must be eligible to work in Australia or New Zealand as a permanent resident or through another valid work-rights arrangement. The role is open only to candidates aged 18 years or older, and a valid Australian driver's licence plus reliable transport are required. The workplace follows an equal opportunity approach and considers all qualified applicants without discrimination.

What the employer provides

Benefits include on-site parking, uniforms, career growth opportunities, paid training, ongoing support, and the ability to accrue annual leave and personal leave.

About inclusion

Swissport emphasizes diversity, inclusion, and fair hiring practices, with a workplace environment intended to support people from varied backgrounds.
