Job description

Role overview

The Quantity Surveyor will oversee the commercial and contractual aspects of construction projects, with responsibility for budgeting, estimating, tendering, contract handling, and cost monitoring. The role is focused on keeping projects financially controlled, ensuring contractual compliance, and supporting successful delivery within the approved budget.

Responsibilities

  • Build project cost estimates and prepare budgets for construction works.
  • Create, check, and maintain Bills of Quantities (BOQs) as well as tender packages.
  • Measure completed work, assess its value, and prepare interim and final payment claims.
  • Track project expenditure, manage change-related variations, and evaluate the financial effect of scope changes.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate claims related to extra cost or extra time.
  • Handle contract and subcontract administration, including reviewing payment applications and closing final accounts.
  • Assist procurement activities and compare supplier or subcontractor quotations and bids.
  • Keep commercial files and project records accurate and up to date.
  • Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to maintain effective cost control.
  • Produce regular commercial reports and provide cost advice to management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a similar discipline.
  • At least 5 years of experience working as a Quantity Surveyor, ideally within construction, infrastructure, or aviation projects.
  • Strong working knowledge of construction contract frameworks such as FIDIC, JCT, and NEC.
  • Well-developed analytical ability and numerical accuracy.
  • Hands-on experience in cost control, measurement, and contract administration.
  • Good negotiation, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • High attention to detail and strong organisational skills.
  • Comfortable using quantity surveying tools and MS Office applications.

Additional information

This is a full-time, onsite role based in Doha, Qatar. The job focuses on managing the financial and contractual side of construction delivery and requires close coordination with internal teams and external stakeholders.
