Role overview
Tesla is hiring an energetic Quality Supervisor to oversee a team of Quality Technicians on the production line during shift operations in Austin, Texas. The role focuses on building team structure, improving quality performance, and helping a newly developing manufacturing group operate effectively.
Key responsibilities
- Assign work, coordinate coverage, and oversee schedules for Quality Technicians and Inspectors.
- Coach, train, and support team members in day-to-day execution.
- Bring quality concerns to Management and Engineering when needed and help strengthen quality operations.
- Create training plans and help shape hiring plans for the team.
- Support problem solving through root cause analysis and tracking of corrective actions.
- Assist technicians and inspectors with in-line decisions.
- Prepare routine updates and reports for the quality team and leadership.
- Support material disposition decisions and help enforce 5S and workplace cleanliness standards.

Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree is preferred, or 3+ years of experience leading teams of 10 or more people in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
- Quality credentials such as Six Sigma, TQM, or an equivalent certification are an advantage.
- Working knowledge of SPC, process capability, PFMEA, control plans, and related quality tools.
- Experience helping select, develop, and grow new team members.
- Ability to stay effective under pressure and balance competing priorities and deadlines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with comfort interacting daily with executives and leaders.
- Excellent organization and careful attention to detail.
- Proficiency with common Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
