QC Junior Chemist

About the Role

KVK Tech is looking for a driven QC Junior Chemist to join their Newtown, PA lab team. This position involves assisting with analytical testing and supporting laboratory processes across various sample types including raw materials, in-process samples, finished products, stability testing, and product development in an oral solid dosage pharmaceutical manufacturing setting. The role is entry-level, involving supervised performance of routine tests while building hands-on experience in pharmaceutical analytical methods.

Key Responsibilities

• Execute routine analytical testing following established protocols under supervision until fully trained for independent method execution.
• Accurately prepare samples, standards, reagents, buffers, and mobile phases according to standard operating procedures and lab safety guidelines.
• Engage in a variety of tests such as wet chemistry, pH, titrations, loss on drying, Karl Fischer moisture analysis, UV-Vis spectroscopy, FT-IR, dissolution testing, HPLC, and others as assigned.
• Maintain precise and comprehensive documentation of laboratory activities in compliance with cGMP, ALCOA principles, and Data Integrity standards.
• Ensure laboratory instruments, balances, glassware, and equipment are properly calibrated, qualified, cleaned, and ready for use.
• Support laboratory sample management, inventory control, equipment sanitation, reagent labeling, proper waste disposal, and upkeep of inspection-ready conditions.

Candidate Profile

• A Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Biochemistry, or a related chemistry-focused discipline is mandatory.
• Between zero and one year of laboratory experience, including academic lab coursework, internships, or prior pharmaceutical laboratory exposure, is acceptable.
• Sound understanding of chemical principles, lab safety, sample preparation, and performing scientific calculations for concentrations, dilutions, standards, and unit conversions.
• Familiarity with analytical instrumentation and techniques such as HPLC, UV-Vis, FT-IR, dissolution, Karl Fischer moisture measurement, pH testing, titrations, and wet chemistry methods.
• Capable of strictly following documented procedures and instructions, recognizing when to escalate questions or unexpected outcomes.
• Excellent organization, attention to detail, communication skills, and ability to produce accurate, contemporaneous laboratory records.
• Competency with Microsoft Office; knowledge of Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS), Empower software, cGMP, or pharmaceutical Data Integrity standards is advantageous but not essential.
