Role Overview

The Purchasing Supervisor is responsible for managing all purchasing operations within the company. This involves selecting products to procure, identifying suitable suppliers, negotiating price and delivery terms, and fostering supplier relationships to optimize procurement efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and execute procurement strategies to improve cost-effectiveness and streamline the supply chain.
• Research and evaluate potential vendors based on cost, quality, and delivery schedules.
• Negotiate inbound freight conditions and contract terms.
• Source new suppliers specifically for metals and plastics categories.
• Manage sourcing processes from initiation through completion.
• Maintain current lead times within the company's ERP system.
• Oversee consignment inventories to ensure availability and quality.
• Ensure all procured materials conform to company quality standards.
• Negotiate favorable pricing and payment terms with suppliers while ensuring mutually beneficial agreements.
• Conduct thorough market analysis to monitor industry trends, supplier capabilities, and price changes.
• Monitor and analyze inventory patterns to align stock levels with demand, preventing shortages or surpluses.
• Ensure accuracy and completeness of procurement documentation including purchase orders, invoices, and receipts.
• Implement procurement tools and systems to enhance operational efficiency.
• Manage ongoing supplier relationships through communication, performance reviews, and problem resolution to build long-term partnerships.
• Continuously assess and refine procurement processes to identify cost-saving and operational improvements.
• Generate and present detailed reports on purchasing activities, performance metrics, and cost efficiencies to management.
• Stay informed about relevant laws and regulations to maintain compliance in all sourcing activities.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, business administration, or related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
• Minimum of 5 years' experience as a purchasing specialist within a manufacturing environment.
• Comprehensive understanding of procurement principles, vendor management, and contract negotiations.
• Strong negotiation and interpersonal communication skills, with ability to cultivate relationships with vendors and internal teams.
• Familiarity with vendor and inventory management systems.
• Analytical mindset with excellent organizational skills and the ability to work collaboratively across functions.
• Proficiency with ERP systems, with experience in Made2Manage considered advantageous.

Additional Experience

• Experience sourcing copper and plastic raw materials.
• Ability to interpret blueprints and technical specifications is a plus.
• Exposure to the precision machining industry is favorable.
• Competence in data analysis and reporting tools.
• Detail-focused with strong time management capabilities.

Compensation

Annual salary range is $75,000 to $95,000 based on experience.
