Job description

About Masafina

Masafina is a UK-based producer of authentic Mexican cuisine, including heirloom corn tortillas, Northern Mexican wheat flour tortillas, salsas, and heritage ingredients, supplied to renowned chefs across the UK. The founders invested five months traveling through Mexico to research traditional recipes, pre-Hispanic cultivation methods, and sustainable suppliers. Underpinned by investors experienced in food manufacturing, the company has experienced solid trading performance over three years and is moving into a growth stage.

Role Overview

We seek a Purchasing and Supply Chain Manager to oversee the entire purchasing process, from long-lead imports from Mexico to managing UK suppliers and daily production scheduling. Working closely with the founders and operations team, you will have significant influence and responsibility for business outcomes. The position suits candidates who excel in entrepreneurial and dynamic settings, combining detailed data analysis with practical problem-solving.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage purchasing and supplier communications across UK and Mexican supply chains, including direct communication with Mexican suppliers in Spanish.
  • Issue purchase orders, monitor confirmations, and manage lead times, with emphasis on Mexico's four-month-plus import cycle.
  • Coordinate international logistics and customs activities in Mexico and the UK, ensuring smooth inbound delivery from port to warehouse.
  • Maintain stock integrity: ensure accuracy, proper rotation, minimise write-offs, and uphold Cin7 Core system data quality, feeding demand and inventory data into production planning.
  • Optimize and manage inventory and ERP systems, implementing tools and automation to enhance data management.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive reporting frameworks and dashboards for stock, purchasing, and operational KPIs, creating them from scratch if necessary.
  • Lead initiatives to reduce costs and develop existing products related to purchasing, packaging, and supply chain.
  • Analyze operational efficiencies, identify variances, and communicate actionable insights to founders and operations leaders.

Candidate Requirements

  • Fluency in Spanish (written and spoken) to liaise directly with suppliers in Mexico.
  • Proven experience in food manufacturing, FMCG, or food operations.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in optimising ERP, WMS, or inventory management systems; experience with Cin7 Core is a plus, but familiarity with similar platforms such as Unleashed, NetSuite, or TradeGecko and ability to learn quickly is acceptable.
  • Advanced skills in Excel and spreadsheets, with the ability to build models, dashboards, and reports from the ground up.
  • Practical experience in demand forecasting and production scheduling.
  • Knowledge of warehouse operations including goods receipt, picking, and stock management.

Additional Information

  • This is a full-time, permanent position; part-time applicants may be considered for the right fit.
  • The working schedule is Monday to Friday, day shifts, totaling 40 hours per week.
  • The role is based on-site at our production and warehouse facility in West London.
