Purchase Engineer

Role Overview

This role is responsible for procuring goods and services necessary for the company’s operations, including indirect items such as office supplies and maintenance materials, as well as direct materials used in manufacturing high-voltage switchgear. The position involves managing the entire procurement cycle from sourcing products and selecting suppliers to negotiating prices and processing orders. Contract management and supplier performance evaluation are also key elements of this role.

Key Contributions

• Manage the operational procurement activities ensuring materials for high-voltage switchgear production are available on schedule.
• Create and issue purchase orders, monitor order status, and ensure materials meet production and customer requirements in a timely manner.
• Handle both local and import procurement processes including tracking shipments.
• Collaborate with internal teams and quality departments to assess purchased items and resolve any issues.
• Maintain strong supplier relationships while supervising their adherence to contractual and quality standards.
• Contribute actively to inventory management strategies within a fluctuating supply and demand environment.
• Apply knowledge of GST, VAT, customs clearance, and other relevant tax regulations.
• Identify and support cost-saving initiatives and improve procurement process efficiencies.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable internal and external policies, regulations, and guidelines.
• Embody company values by prioritizing safety, integrity, and responsible conduct.

Candidate Profile

• Engineering graduate with specialization in mechanical or electrical engineering and 2 to 5 years of experience within a manufacturing environment.
• Experience working with SAP MM and PP modules is essential.
• Proficient in MS Office and fluent in both spoken and written English.
• Highly organized and self-driven with a collaborative mindset and excellent interpersonal skills.
• Strong analytical abilities supplemented by data collection and interpretation aptitudes for complex projects.
• Exceptional ability to communicate effectively, juggle multiple tasks, and manage time efficiently.
• Demonstrated leadership and management capabilities.
