This role is based across two neighbouring hospitality properties on the Gold Coast and Northern New South Wales border, with views over Coolangatta Beach. The complex offers hotel-style rooms, one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments, plus guest pool facilities. Outside of work, the surrounding Tweed Heads and Southern Gold Coast area offers a relaxed coastal lifestyle with easy access to beaches, pubs, clubs and restaurants.
Role Purpose
The Public Area Cleaner is a key member of the housekeeping team, responsible for keeping shared spaces spotless and presenting the property to a high standard at all times. The role suits someone who is comfortable working independently as well as alongside colleagues, and who enjoys assisting guests with general questions and needs.
Key Duties
- Keep the property looking polished and well maintained across all areas, both indoors and outdoors.
- Clean and refresh public spaces such as the pool area, gym, and shared bathrooms to meet strict presentation and hygiene standards.
- Assist room attendants with guest room cleaning and linen removal when extra support is needed.
- Use cleaning tools, specialist equipment, and chemicals safely and correctly.
- Support guests with questions or security-related concerns, while coordinating with other departments to complete tasks.
- Notice and report maintenance concerns, damaged items, missing equipment, or other issues to the relevant teams without delay.
Skills and Experience
Previous work in a similar cleaning or public area support role is advantageous. Strong communication skills, a friendly manner, a sharp eye for detail, and the ability to manage time efficiently are important. The role also requires physical fitness and flexibility to work across indoor and outdoor areas, including stairs and exposed spaces. You should be comfortable working with people from different backgrounds and available for varied shifts, including weekends and public holidays. Having dependable transport is also necessary.
