Our collaboration includes establishing international branch campuses in India through joint ventures, creating high-impact centers that bring prestigious education directly to regional students.

The Initiative

Through a joint venture, we are transforming higher education in India by bringing world-renowned universities directly to the country, capitalizing on a government policy encouraging foreign universities to establish campuses locally. In 2026, Emeritus partnered with seven global universities including University of York, University of Liverpool, University of Bristol, University of Aberdeen, University of New South Wales, Victoria University, and Illinois Institute of Technology to open cutting-edge campuses in India. Further expansion with additional institutions is planned for 2027.

Role Overview

We are looking for dynamic academic leaders such as Heads of School, Associate Professors, or Deans to serve as Provosts at these new campuses in India. This role offers a unique opportunity to lead and shape the future direction of higher education in the country.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement the academic vision and strategic plans aligned with the home universities’ goals, fostering excellence in teaching, research, and curriculum development.
• Supervise delivery of physical and digital infrastructure projects, ensuring effective program delivery and budget management.
• Maintain academic reputation by ensuring compliance with home campus standards and Indian regulations, managing reviews, accreditations, and audits.
• Collaborate with the Chief Operating Officer and faculty deans to execute university strategies and align faculty goals.
• Oversee career development and remuneration frameworks for academic staff to attract and retain excellent faculty.
• Manage medium-term resource allocation and budgeting in tandem with faculty deans and COO.
• Lead with inclusive and engaged leadership, maintaining strong connections with senior staff and colleagues.
• Ensure an exceptional student experience with comprehensive academic support, inclusive policies, and focus on retention, satisfaction, and employability.
• Ensure compliance with academic regulations and build strong relationships with regulatory bodies and external academic networks.

Candidate Requirements

• Doctoral degree (PhD or equivalent) from an accredited institution.
• Significant academic achievements and scholarly reputation appropriate for a Provost role, including senior leadership experience such as Provost, Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Vice-President, Dean, or equivalent.
• Expertise in planning, budgeting, and organizational leadership in higher education.
• Proven success in advancing teaching excellence, research, innovation, curriculum development, academic policy, quality assurance, and accreditation compliance.
• Comprehensive knowledge of global and Indian higher education systems, including familiarity with regulatory bodies such as UGC and NEP.
• Strong strategic vision and experience implementing institutional priorities, launching new initiatives, and engaging with diverse stakeholders.
• Committed to inclusive, collaborative leadership that promotes continuous improvement, professionalism, respect, equality, and diversity.
