Role Overview
As a Proposals Strategist, you will help grow partnerships with public transit organizations across the DACH region by producing sharp, persuasive proposals. Working closely with senior Strategy Team members, you will study partner needs, understand Via’s technical and operational advantages, and craft written responses that can help shape how cities move.
This position is best suited to someone who is enthusiastic about technology and genuinely enjoys writing. The role is hybrid and based in Berlin.
What You’ll Do
- Take ownership of competitive procurement processes from initial review through strategy, content development, internal review, and final submission.
- Work side by side with Partnerships, Expansion, and Finance teams to shape strong bid strategies for high-stakes procurement opportunities, while actively pressure-testing assumptions.
- Partner with senior leaders to improve the proposal workflow through process refinement and AI-enabled automation.
- Turn complex product and service details into clear, compelling language that helps decision-makers understand the value proposition.
- Create original, persuasive responses by identifying what each prospective partner needs and applying your knowledge of Via’s technology, transit operations, and industry trends.
- Handle communication with prospective partners professionally and support senior colleagues during discussions with cities and transit authorities.
What We’re Looking For
- At least 4 years of relevant professional experience.
- Excellent writing and communication ability, with a strong instinct for tone, structure, and argument.
- A detail-oriented and strategic mindset, able to manage complex work without losing sight of the overall objective.
- Natural curiosity, a habit of continuous learning, and an interest in contributing ideas rather than only executing tasks.
- Calm, organized, thoughtful, and solution-focused, especially when work is demanding and high stakes.
- Full professional fluency in German and English, with native-level or bilingual German required.
Preferred Background
- Experience writing and publishing original essays, opinion pieces, or other content, particularly related to transit, urbanism, mobility, or business strategy.
- Experience leading or materially contributing to a successful business or public-sector proposal, pitch, or deal.
- Background in a startup, transportation consulting, management consulting, or the public sector.
- Additional language fluency beyond German and English, such as French, Spanish, Italian, or Dutch.
Compensation and Benefits
