Technical Operations

The Technical Operations division at BioMarin orchestrates the production of drugs for clinical trials and commercial distribution. It encompasses engineering, scientific, quality assurance/control, procurement, and logistics functions to deliver high-quality pharmaceuticals worldwide.

Position Summary

The Project Manager for Product Supply Chain, based in Shanbally, Ringaskiddy, Cork, leads and oversees projects supporting early-stage product supply teams and commercial value chain teams. This role demands effective planning, execution, and closure of projects ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards. The position requires collaboration with diverse stakeholders and management of multidisciplinary teams.

Key Duties

• Create comprehensive project plans, timelines, and resource distribution approaches.
• Manage project budgets and schedules to prevent overruns and delays.
• Anticipate risks and implement mitigation plans to minimize impact.
• Direct and inspire project teams, promoting communication and teamwork.
• Engage stakeholders regularly to provide updates and align expectations.
• Ensure compliance with applicable regulations and quality protocols.
• Document projects thoroughly and report progress to involved parties.
• Conclude projects with final reports, financial reconciliations, and lessons learned.

Scope of Responsibilities

• Develop and estimate costs for project proposals.
• Maintain and update project schedules including milestones.
• Organize regular status meetings and communicate updates to stakeholders.
• Manage changes in project scope with proper documentation and approvals.
• Ensure deliverables meet defined quality benchmarks.
• Monitor and control project expenditures within assigned budgets.
• Identify and manage project risks effectively.
• Lead diverse teams composed of engineers, scientists, and other specialists.
• Communicate with clients, management, and regulatory bodies consistently.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in science, engineering, project management, or related fields is mandatory.
• Advanced degrees or certifications like PMP are advantageous.
• Demonstrated 5 to 8 years of project management experience, ideally in life sciences.
• Proven leadership capacity, conflict management, and team motivation skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication abilities for varied stakeholders.
• Competency in analyzing complex issues and devising solutions.
• Familiarity with life sciences technologies, industry processes, and regulatory compliance.
• Financial skills related to budgeting, cost control, and reporting.
• Knowledge of regulations including GMP, FDA guidelines, and other specific standards.

Additional Information

This role involves approximately 15% travel. Primary collaborations include teams from Technical Operations, Product Supply Chain, Planning, Site Supply Chain and Operations, Regulatory, Commercial Operations, Master Data, Logistics, Artwork/Packaging, Quality, and Finance.
