Role Overview
This onshore project management role is based in Doha, Qatar. The position calls for a seasoned professional who can lead project execution across business, technical, financial, and administrative areas, while maintaining strong client and stakeholder relationships and ensuring delivery against scope, schedule, cost, quality, and safety expectations.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, coordinate, supervise, and control all execution activities for the assigned program, project, or subtask across business, technical, financial, and administrative dimensions.
- Serve as the main company contact for the client and selected suppliers during execution, including negotiating scope changes and supporting business development efforts to win follow-on work.
- Define program-level requirements, review draft and final deliverables for compliance, and allocate work to key team members based on their strengths and qualifications.
- Contribute to performance reviews and development planning for direct reports, while encouraging technical quality and continuous improvement.
- Build project teams through effective coordination with support functions, other offices, and subsidiaries, and work with discipline leads to prepare budgets, schedules, and project plans.
- Track progress, milestones, and issues; report status to management; and develop corrective actions for delays, cost pressures, or scope changes.
- Oversee work plans, HSE plans, QA/QC plans, and related documents, including support for hazardous waste-related work where applicable.
- Support regulatory discussions and public meetings when required, and carry out other duties aligned with the role.
- Support HSE commitments and ensure all project participants follow the One-Way program and HSE requirements.
- Maintain strong client relationships during and after project completion, capture customer requirements, and manage multiple stakeholders effectively.
- Manage the commercial arrangement and protect the expected budget gross margin.
- Ensure proper project handover, define scope clearly, enforce contract compliance, and operate a disciplined change control process.
- Plan all project scope elements, develop resource and financial needs, and manage design, procurement, and construction activities to stay on schedule.
- Monitor reporting, drive corrective actions, and ensure timely turnover of documents and close-out.
- Review estimates and cost reports, monitor project costs, and take action to prevent overruns and capture opportunities.
- Set and enforce quality requirements, implement appropriate systems, follow company policies and procedures, and run a lessons-learned process.
- Provide clear leadership to the project team by defining roles, responsibilities, and a shared vision for delivery success.
- Maintain effective communication with the project team, client, management, and third parties, including regular and accurate progress reporting.
- Identify project risks and opportunities, track mitigation and closure, and keep risk management active throughout the project life cycle.
- Guide design activities by setting objectives, ensuring compliance with the basis of design, codes, and regulations, and monitoring inter-discipline coordination.
- Direct procurement and subcontract activities to ensure materials and services meet specifications, arrive on time, and remain within budget.
- Provide direction to construction teams and monitor construction management to support safe delivery within cost and schedule targets.
Education and Accreditation
- A full-time Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited university is required.
- MME engineering accreditation is mandatory. Candidates without it must be willing to obtain it during the probation period.
- CPEng status, or progress toward it, will be considered an advantage.
Experience
- The role requires strong prior project experience, including a proven track record of successful project management.
- Applicants should bring substantial experience in supervisory and/or project management positions, along with solid technical knowledge.
- Background in onshore brownfield projects is essential.
- Experience in both Pre-FEED and FEED phases is mandatory.
