Position Overview
The Project Manager - New Business will be a crucial contributor to Linfox's growth strategy in New Zealand. Reporting as the deputy to the National Business Development Manager, you will lead the preparation and submission of tenders and requests for proposals (RFPs) that secure new clients. This role involves close collaboration with Business Development, Commercial, and Operations teams to translate complex customer needs into compelling, successful proposals across warehousing and transport sectors.
Serving as the operational core of the New Zealand business development function, you will manage the analytical and administrative facets of bid processes, instilling structure and discipline in the sales pipeline. This role also offers a clear career progression path toward the National Business Development Manager position.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the entire tender and RFP process, from qualification to final submission deadlines.
- Produce detailed, high-quality written responses and documentation that demonstrate company capabilities.
- Collaborate with Commercial and Finance teams to develop pricing strategies and commercial inputs for bids.
- Coordinate across Commercial, Warehousing, and Transport departments to ensure feasibility and design customized solutions.
- Prepare comprehensive tender packages and oversee submission timelines to meet set deadlines.
- Convert client requirements into practical, unique logistics proposals encompassing warehousing and transport.
- Analyze and prioritize opportunities aligning with the New Zealand business development strategy.
- Develop and standardize business development procedures and best practices for bidding.
- Manage and enhance the end-to-end stage-gate process within the business development pipeline.
- Organize gate reviews, documentation, and governance outcomes effectively.
- Maintain accurate and current pipeline data, reports, and insights.
- Keep a forward-looking, multi-year perspective on the tender pipeline in New Zealand.
- Attend customer meetings and site visits with the National Manager, representing Linfox professionally.
Candidate Profile
- Experience in business development support, bid or tender management, or project management in a B2B setting.
- Previous logistics or supply chain experience is advantageous but not mandatory; strong relevant B2B experience is valued.
- Familiarity with commercial disciplines such as pricing, cost modeling, or pipeline governance is highly preferred.
- Operationally minded, with a solid understanding of logistics operations and customer requirements.
- Strong analytical thinking, lateral reasoning, and planning abilities, coupled with exceptional written communication skills suitable for RFP responses.
- Able to juggle multiple bidding projects, manage deadlines, and collaborate with various stakeholders efficiently.
- Confident in engaging with senior leaders and customer representatives to build long-term relationships.
- Experienced in developing and implementing standardized processes and governance frameworks.
