Role Overview
We are seeking a dynamic Project Management Assistant / Project Coordinator to join our Edmonton team. This individual will support Project Managers throughout all stages of construction projects—from tendering through execution to closeout—ensuring projects meet timelines, budget constraints, and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and coordinate project documentation and processes including project setup, bid coordination, subcontractor management, drawings, purchase orders, contracts, permits, change order evaluation, RFIs, RFQs, and project closeout documentation.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date project data within the CMiC project management software.
- Review shop drawings for scope accuracy and alignment with scheduling requirements.
- Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with clients, designers, and subcontractors.
- Conduct regular site visits and engage actively in client and trade meetings.
- Support project accounting by assisting with accounts payable approvals, client invoicing, budget monitoring, and estimating.
- Organize comprehensive project closeout materials including warranties, drawings, manuals, and permits.
- Regularly update key stakeholders about project status and milestones.
- Deliver high-quality client and supplier service with timely and professional communication.
- Collaborate with site supervisors, safety representatives, trade leads, and local inspectors throughout project execution.
Candidate Qualifications
- Diploma or degree in Construction Management, Architecture, or Engineering.
- Minimum three years of relevant experience, preferably with a commercial general contracting background.
- Strong proficiency in interpreting construction drawings and documents.
- Comprehensive understanding of construction workflows across all project phases.
- Ability to anticipate challenges and develop practical solutions proactively.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office and project management software is an advantage.
- Excellent communication skills with the confidence to interface effectively with clients, designers, subcontractors, and colleagues.
- Self-motivated, with the capacity to manage multiple priorities and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Highly detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.
- Capable of working independently as well as collaboratively, sharing essential information with the team.
- Positive attitude and proactive problem-solving mindset.
Work Environment
- Position is based at the office located at 10171 Saskatchewan Drive NW, Edmonton.
- Role requires frequent exposure to construction sites during all seasons.
- This is an on-site role; remote or hybrid work arrangements are not applicable.
