About Thermo Systems

Thermo Systems is an international control systems integration company that provides end-to-end automation solutions for the Energy, Life Sciences, and Mission Critical sectors.

Its operating philosophy, known as the Thermo Way, emphasizes three priorities: helping employees grow and succeed, delivering dependable and high-quality outcomes for customers, and maintaining financial discipline for long-term strength. The company values capable teams, reliable partnerships, and technical expertise as the foundation for lasting performance.

Role Overview

The Project Executive is responsible for guiding a portfolio of control systems projects and ensuring strong results across safety, quality, timelines, cost, and client experience. The role supports Project Managers, acts as the top escalation contact for project issues, and helps keep delivery aligned with Thermo Systems' broader business objectives.

This position is central to creating consistent delivery outcomes, supporting growth, and raising the standard of project execution across the organization.

Location, Work Model, and Travel

This role begins onsite in Reno, Nevada for the first 6 months and then transitions to remote work with travel. Once remote, travel may be required up to 25-50%.

Key Responsibilities

The role includes ownership of delivery outcomes across multiple projects, including oversight of risk, schedule, cost, margin, and customer satisfaction. It also involves coaching and developing Project Managers so they can execute consistently and grow professionally.

As the main escalation point, the Project Executive handles significant project risks, issues, and customer concerns. The role also includes reviewing and approving forecasts, cost-to-complete updates, and financial projections, while ensuring projects remain on track to meet or exceed gross profit targets.

Additional duties include supporting staffing and resource planning with engineering and business development teams, aligning execution with company standards and QMS requirements, managing change orders, and maintaining strong working relationships with customers, contractors, and other stakeholders.

The position also requires close coordination on site execution, including monitoring installation progress against approved schedules and short-interval plans, leading or supporting daily and weekly field meetings as needed, and proactively communicating site constraints such as access, permits, shutdown windows, staging, and material availability.

Safety, quality, and process discipline are important parts of the job. The Project Executive is expected to promote safe working practices, ensure adherence to company policies and governance processes, strengthen execution standards across teams, and identify opportunities to improve efficiency and team performance.

What We Are Looking For

Applicants should have a bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. The role calls for at least 15 years of experience in project management or program delivery, along with a track record of leading complex, customer-facing project portfolios. PMP certification or an equivalent credential is preferred.

Successful candidates will bring strong leadership and team-building ability, a solid understanding of project financials and forecasting, experience with risk management, contracts, and change control, and familiarity with control systems and industrial project environments. Strong communication, decision-making, problem-solving, organization, and execution discipline are also essential, along with a clear commitment to quality, safety, and accountability.

Compensation and Benefits

The role offers a competitive annual salary plus bonus potential. Benefits include a 401(k) plan with company match, comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage with low-cost options, paid time off and sick leave, tuition reimbursement, support for professional credentials, and access to both in-house and external technical training.

Employees also gain exposure to complex automation projects and join a culture built on integrity, accountability, and teamwork.

Work Environment, Accommodations, and Equal Opportunity

The physical and environmental requirements described for this role are representative of the essential duties. Reasonable accommodations may be provided to enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform the job.

Thermo Systems is an equal opportunity employer and considers applicants and employees without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, genetics, or any other protected status.
