About the Role

The Project Controller will be integral to the effective execution of major capital projects by implementing strong project control measures covering financials, scheduling, risk, changes, and overall performance management. Collaborating closely with the Project Manager and other teams, you will guarantee that project data is precise, timely, and dependable to support decision-making at all project phases.

Your duties include setting up and maintaining project baselines, budgets, forecasts, and performance reports, while spotting trends, potential risks, and opportunities to drive successful project results. Leveraging your expertise in performance measurement, governance, and project controls, you will aid in continual enhancements of systems, processes, and reporting to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and aligned with strategic aims.

Key Responsibilities

  • Establish and uphold project control frameworks such as baselines, Work Breakdown Structures (WBS), budgets, forecasts, and key performance indicators that integrate scope, schedule, and cost.
  • Track and evaluate project performance through methodologies including Earned Value Management (EVM), variance analysis, and forecasting, providing actionable insights and advice to assist project delivery decisions.
  • Facilitate governance by managing costs, change processes, risks and opportunities, generating performance reports, and ensuring accurate and auditable project records.
  • Work collaboratively with Project Managers, contractors, and stakeholders to share project control expertise, foster continuous improvements, and contribute to the success of TasNetworks’ capital projects.

Candidate Profile

You are a seasoned project controls specialist with experience in capital works, infrastructure, engineering, construction, or utility sectors. You possess solid skills in cost control, forecasting, performance management, and reporting, with a strong grasp of project management methodologies and control functions.

Your analytical mindset enables you to decipher complex project data into practical insights for decision support. You communicate effectively across diverse teams and stakeholders and proactively identify issues early, implementing solutions to ensure smooth project progress in a dynamic environment.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Proven background in project controls, cost management, forecasting, and performance reporting within infrastructure, construction, engineering, or utility projects.
  • In-depth knowledge of project control disciplines, including scheduling, risk management, Earned Value Management (EVM), and performance measurement techniques.
  • Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and communication abilities to provide insightful recommendations from detailed project information.
  • Experience utilizing project control and ERP tools such as SAP, Primavera P6, InEight, Power BI, and advanced Microsoft Excel capabilities to support project outcomes.
