Role overview
Valard Construction’s Transmission group is hiring a Project Administrator to join the Project Support team on a 12-month term, with the potential for an extension. The position is based at the company’s head office in Edmonton, Alberta.
Reporting to the Project Support Manager, this role is central to keeping project teams organized and moving efficiently. You will work alongside Project Managers, site personnel, and other internal teams to support everyday project activities through coordination, documentation, reporting, and administrative follow-through.
Key duties
- Arrange travel for field staff and visitors, including airfare, camp stays, hotel bookings, and local transportation.
- Assist the procurement function by receiving and entering purchase orders, checking travel-related invoices, and submitting expense claims.
- Check timesheets for completeness and consistency, enter hours into the payroll system, and help resolve issues with Corporate Payroll.
- Handle IT support coordination for site teams by logging tickets, helping with equipment and system-access requests, and working with the IT department.
- Compile, input, and circulate daily, weekly, and monthly reporting data, including information gathered from the field.
- Carry out general office, coordination, and project-support tasks as needed.
- Take part in and support company safety initiatives.
- Build working relationships across the organization to locate important information quickly.
- Use Valard’s internal systems and established processes to complete routine work.
- Coordinate with finance/accounting and operations teams when required.
Work expectations
This role requires flexibility to work overtime, weekends, and some holidays depending on project demands.
Required experience and qualifications
- High school completion or an equivalent credential.
- At least 2 years of relevant experience in administration or data entry.
- Proven ability to arrange travel for large crews of 20 or more people.
- Solid understanding of purchasing and procurement workflows.
- Comfort using Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong organization, high attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a busy construction setting.
Preferred background
- A post-secondary diploma or degree in Business Administration.
- Experience with document control processes.
- Previous work in construction or within a utility company.
- Exposure to JD Edwards.
