About the Role
The Production Director for Outerwear at G-III Apparel Group is a key leadership position responsible for managing and overseeing the full production cycle of the Outerwear category. This includes ensuring adherence to quality standards, meeting production timelines, and fostering operational efficiency. The role involves extensive collaboration with design, technical design, global sourcing partners, merchandising, sales, and logistics teams to drive successful product delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct detailed analysis and negotiate garment FOB costing with overseas teams and direct vendors to align with corporate margin objectives.
- Continuously monitor and adjust garment costing to meet or exceed financial targets.
- Work closely with design and merchandising, as well as overseas partners, particularly to provide costing solutions for styles facing margin challenges.
- Issue purchase orders and track production progress to ensure timely completion.
- Validate costing and delivery schedules seasonally for all product styles.
- Collaborate with buyers and merchandising teams to address any production delays or margin-related issues.
- Coordinate with fabric, design, and technical design departments to support overall product development.
- Maintain daily communication with logistics regarding air and sea transportation bookings.
- Communicate daily with quality control teams addressing quality concerns or issues.
- Partner with sales teams to manage projections, minimum quantities, delivery timelines, and sample requests.
Candidate Requirements
- A minimum of 10 years' experience overseeing overseas production management, with a preference for candidates experienced in Outerwear production.
- Strong expertise in cost negotiation paired with comprehensive understanding of garment cost components.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment.
- In-depth knowledge of product development processes.
- Proficiency in Excel and other relevant computer applications.
- Competence in estimating product pricing accurately.
- Familiarity with garment testing procedures and standards.
Compensation
The annual salary range for this position is between $135,000 and $175,000, in accordance with New York City's Salary Transparency Law. This reflects a fair and competitive compensation based on the role's responsibilities.
