Job description
Role overview
River Island is hiring an energetic Product Team Leader for its Waterford store. This role is focused on leading, motivating, and supporting the store team so they can create an excellent shopping experience and a positive workplace. The position calls for strong product-handling knowledge, a sharp eye for visual presentation, and a commitment to high-quality customer service. You will also help the Product and Commercial Manager strengthen the team, uphold day-to-day standards, and contribute to strong sales and performance results.
Key duties
- Create strong product displays and put together appealing, wearable outfit combinations that help drive customer interest.
- Maintain consistently high visual standards with the customer journey guiding store decisions.
- Confidently take charge of store operations across service, people, and operational areas when on duty.
- Work with the Commercial/Product Manager to enable the store team to deliver an excellent customer experience.
- Use commercial tools effectively to support actions that improve performance.
- Own key store measures such as sales, stock loss, payroll, conversion, customer feedback, and RFID performance.
- Help run store operations while ensuring health and safety compliance is maintained.
- Support team development so the store remains motivated, engaged, productive, and recognised for good work.
What the role involves
- This is a fast-moving retail environment where priorities can change quickly due to trading results, customer behaviour, and seasonal demand.
- You will need to review customer feedback and sales information to identify opportunities for improvement.
- The role involves working with a varied team, so emotional awareness and people-management skills matter.
- It is a hands-on position that includes physical store tasks such as moving product, resetting floors, updating layouts, arranging displays, and replenishing stock.
- Weekend, public holiday, and seasonal trading availability is required, especially during peak events, launches, and promotions.
- Good time management is important for balancing multiple responsibilities and meeting deadlines.
What makes you a strong fit
The ideal candidate has retail experience, preferably in a supervisory position, and a genuine interest in fashion and trends. You should be a clear communicator, able to influence and inspire others, and comfortable working in a busy environment where priorities shift often. A strong connection with the brand and its products is important, as is the ability to help create an outstanding customer journey.
Compensation
The listed pay is €31,674 full-time equivalent.
Benefits and support
- 50% staff discount and a uniform allowance.
- Access to discounts, benefits, financial guidance, wellbeing support, and related services through the Retail Trust.
- Kindness Cupboards in stores for basic food and hygiene essentials when needed.
- Enhanced support for different family situations, including maternity, paternity, adoption, and fertility treatment.
- Give-as-you-earn scheme, one Giver Island day each year, and matched funding.
- Learning and progression opportunities across retail and head office, including on-the-job training and qualifications.
- Generous bonus opportunity and private pension plan.
- 28 days paid holiday in the UK or 30 days in ROI, including bank holidays, plus the option to buy extra leave.
