Job description
Overview
This is a contract Product Manager opportunity with a Victorian Government program in Melbourne. The assignment runs through December 2026 and is based in Melbourne CBD with a hybrid working model. The day rate is $1000 plus superannuation.
Project Background
The Communities and Families Transformation Program is a major service-change initiative that will retire older case management platforms and introduce modern tools for around 10,000 users spanning nine program areas across two departments.
Role Purpose
In this position, you will guide the co-design work for the Child Protection sub-stream with a strong focus on transformation. The emphasis is on shaping solutions around what practitioners truly need to do their jobs, rather than simply reproducing current workflows.
Key Accountabilities
- Lead the co-design activity for the Child Protection workstream, making sure design choices are aligned to genuine practitioner needs and a clear transformation agenda.
- Work with the embedded Change Analysts to pinpoint where the new solution will require Child Protection practitioners to change the way they work, and separate essential change from optional or beneficial improvement.
- Own the interface between product design and practice authority across the sub-stream.
- Ensure Product Owners in the sub-stream stay aligned with the expected transformation standard.
- Develop and present co-design outputs for review by the Business Design Authority across the sub-stream.
Skills and Experience Required
The ideal candidate will have a background in leading complex programs or engagements and taking responsibility for work that spans multiple teams and workstreams. You should also have experience in managing and developing others, along with a solid understanding of human-centred design, co-production, or practice-based design methods. Strong knowledge of Child Protection practice, relevant legislation, and the statutory operating environment is essential. You must be able to balance strategic product direction with hands-on delivery at the same time.
Application Notes
The engagement runs until December 2026 and is offered on a hybrid basis in Melbourne CBD.
Applicants who meet the requirements are invited to submit an application or provide an updated CV to the hiring contact provided in the source.
