Job description
Role overview
This position owns the end-to-end performance of the passenger vehicle portfolio, with responsibility for commercial outcomes such as volume, mix, and margin. The role turns market and customer understanding into product, pricing, and launch decisions, while managing the relationship with the OEM and working within centrally controlled pricing, planning, and aftersales structures.
Portfolio strategy and lifecycle management
- Take charge of the model range, variant and trim strategy, and the balance of specifications and colours to improve retail volume, product mix, and profitability.
- Lead model-year planning and shape the product roadmap together with the OEM and the General Manager.
- Oversee the complete product lifecycle, including launch, ramp-up, in-market optimisation, run-out, and replacement, with attention to ageing stock and residual value outcomes.
Market, pricing, and commercial performance
- Use market, demand, and competitor insights to guide product and pricing actions that increase share and contribution.
- Recommend retail pricing and market positioning for each model and variant, staying within the central pricing framework.
- Be accountable for portfolio commercial results and initiate corrective actions to improve volume, mix, and margin.
OEM coordination, launches, and sales support
- Serve as the main product contact for the OEM on allocations, specifications, model-year changes, incentives, and homologation inputs.
- Lead go-to-market planning for new model and model-year launches, covering pricing, dealer and showroom readiness, and campaign rollout.
- Provide the retail network with product training, competitive selling tools, and accurate information for sales and digital channels.
Governance and cross-functional delivery
- Maintain performance dashboards and portfolio/launch reporting for leadership reviews, ensuring information remains accurate across systems.
- Coordinate portfolio work with Business Planning, Pricing, Marketing, and Aftersales, and drive strategic projects across teams.
Competencies and working style
The role calls for strong business judgement, the ability to think strategically, a customer-centric approach, and a track record of driving results in a complex, fast-moving commercial environment. Success also depends on planning and alignment across functions, financial awareness, clear communication, persuasive stakeholder management, and the ability to bring fresh ideas to the retail proposition.
Experience and education
Ideal candidates will bring 6 to 10 years of experience in automotive product, brand, or category management, preferably in passenger or retail automotive. The background should include ownership of a product or portfolio with responsibility for volume, mix, and margin, as well as direct experience working with an OEM or principal and managing the full product lifecycle. Exposure to cross-functional product launches and go-to-market delivery is expected. A bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or Engineering is required; a Master’s degree or MBA is considered an advantage.
Personal traits
Successful applicants should be driven and persistent, comfortable pushing decisions through to closure, confident influencing senior and external OEM stakeholders, curious and adaptable in a dynamic consumer market, and composed when commercial decisions involve ambiguity or pressure.
Motivational fit
The role is suited to someone who is energized by measurable commercial achievement, competitive and target-led environments, the opportunity to own visible business impact, and collaboration across internal teams and external partners.
Additional notes
Candidates are asked to submit their most recent resume. Only applicants who closely match the required qualifications are likely to be contacted. The job summary is not exhaustive, and additional duties may be assigned as needed.
