Job description

About Belle

Belle is a rapidly expanding engagement company focused on improving home healthcare, starting with foot care. The company addresses a major gap for more than 25 million U.S. seniors who can no longer comfortably see or reach their feet, helping reduce avoidable medical spending that exceeds $38 billion each year for health plans.

Belle hires and oversees a network of nail technicians, also referred to as Community Health Workers, who deliver in-home foot care services, including medical pedicures. The company applies data science to find members most likely to need support and then coordinates services through health plans. During home visits, Community Health Workers perform screenings and assessments and may be the first to spot early concerns below and above the knee. When follow-up care is needed, remote nurses work with other providers to help prevent serious and expensive health events.

The company’s mission is to bring joy to healthcare, and it is looking for someone inspired by that purpose.

Role Overview

Belle is seeking a Product Engineer who approaches work with a product mindset rather than simply completing assigned tickets. In this role, you will own features from start to finish: defining the problem, helping shape the solution, building and launching it, and observing how it performs after release. The ideal person cares about the reason behind the work and the outcome after launch, not only whether the code runs successfully.

This position is a strong match for a recent graduate or an early-career engineer who has already been creating projects independently and wants to build software that directly improves patients’ lives.

What You Will Do

  • Design, develop, and deliver full-stack product features across the Ruby on Rails web application and React Native mobile app.
  • Partner closely with product, clinical operations, and care teams to translate operational challenges into shipped software.
  • Own features throughout the full lifecycle, from initial scoping through deployment and follow-up iteration.
  • Use AI coding assistants extensively to accelerate delivery and improve output quality.
  • Create internal tools, automations, and system integrations that streamline operations.
  • Analyze product and operational data to verify whether newly built features are actually effective.
  • Contribute to sprint planning, code reviews, testing, and release rollouts.

Requirements

  • Between 0 and 2 years of professional software engineering experience; internships and substantial personal projects are acceptable.
  • Hands-on experience with React or React Native, plus Ruby on Rails, as these are core technologies for the team.
  • Strong SQL basics and confidence working with relational databases, including querying data to assess feature impact.
  • Demonstrated builder mindset through independently shipped projects rather than coursework alone.
  • Comfort and familiarity with AI development tools such as Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, or similar tools, along with thoughtful opinions on how to use them effectively.
  • Strong product judgment and the habit of asking whether a solution should be built and whether it worked, not just how to implement it.
  • Clear communication skills and ease working across both technical and non-technical teams.
  • Curiosity, adaptability, and a strong bias for action in a fast-paced environment.

Bonus Experience

  • Exposure to Metabase or a comparable analytics and business intelligence tool.
  • Experience with Inertia.js.
  • Familiarity with APIs, integrations, and automation workflows.
  • Interest in healthcare, digital health, or value-based care.

Application Note

Applicants are expected to include something they have personally built and launched, such as a live project, GitHub repository, or personal tool. They should briefly explain what it does, why they created it, and how AI coding tools were used in the process. This submission is considered more important than the résumé.

Benefits

  • Pay that is competitive and based on experience.
  • Health, dental, and vision coverage.
  • 401(k) retirement plan.
  • Paid time off, sick leave, wellness leave, and paid holidays.
  • Room for major career growth and broader responsibilities.
  • The chance to help transform an industry and protect lives.
