Job description

Role overview

Nasdaq is hiring a Product Business Analyst to join its Product Management function in Sydney. This role focuses on improving how data is ingested, organized, and delivered within the Trade Surveillance platform, a compliance solution used by trading firms, exchanges, and regulators across multiple asset classes.

The ideal person will be highly analytical, comfortable working with technical details, and able to turn complex trading processes and data logic into clear, scalable solutions that can be delivered to clients. A practical, hands-on mix of product, business, and technical understanding is important for success.

Key responsibilities

  • Review data conversion workflows to spot mismatches, missing elements, and mapping issues when exchange feeds are converted into internal data structures.
  • Create and keep updated functional requirements, data specifications, user stories, and acceptance criteria for data-related solutions spanning all asset classes.
  • Own the requirements process end to end, from initial intake and analysis through documentation, development transfer, testing support, and release readiness.
  • Work through production incidents and enhancement requests by identifying possible fixes and coordinating with development and quality assurance teams.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to understand system behavior and configuration details so requirements are captured accurately and completely.

Required background

  • A bachelor’s degree in Finance, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a similar discipline, or equivalent hands-on experience.
  • At least 5 years of experience in business analysis, product analysis, or data analysis within capital markets, financial technology, or another regulated trading environment.
  • Practical knowledge of market data formats, trading protocols, and order lifecycle processes.
  • Strong capability to evaluate technical solutions, including data pipelines and underlying system logic.
  • Experience preparing structured documentation such as functional specifications, data flow diagrams, and process maps.

Nice-to-have exposure

  • Familiarity with Jira and Confluence for tracking work, documenting requirements, and collaborating across teams.
  • Prior experience in trade surveillance or compliance.
  • Working knowledge of SQL, data queries, or structured financial data formats.

Location and working arrangement

This position is based in Sydney, Australia, with a hybrid arrangement requiring at least 2 days per week in the office. This setup may change over time.

Eligibility

This is a permanent full-time position. Applicants must have full working rights in Australia and must be Australian citizens or permanent residents.
