Role Overview
The Produce Manager is responsible for leading the store’s fresh produce and floral departments. This position focuses on delivering a great customer experience through superior product quality, appealing displays, and strong service standards. The role includes ownership of ordering, stock control, pricing, labor planning, merchandising, and food safety compliance, while keeping the department fresh, clean, and attractive.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct the day-to-day operations of the produce and floral areas.
- Provide prompt, helpful service and address customer issues effectively.
- Recruit, train, coach, and oversee department associates.
- Maintain compliance with all applicable food safety, sanitation, and health standards.
- Ensure products are fresh, well-rotated, high quality, and presented neatly.
- Develop team performance through ongoing coaching, training, and evaluations.
- Manage product receiving, handling, storage, and merchandising correctly.
- Track stock levels and reduce shrink through smart ordering and rotation practices.
- Keep pricing, signs, and country-of-origin labels accurate.
- Review daily and weekly reports to spot issues and take corrective action.
- Keep the department clean, sanitary, and safe throughout the day.
- Work with store leadership to support broader store goals and customer satisfaction.
- Step in as Manager on Duty when required.
Requirements
- Prior leadership experience in a produce department is required.
- Experience in floral operations is an advantage.
- Solid understanding of produce handling and inventory control is needed.
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams, improve performance, and create a positive work environment.
- Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills.
- Good communication and organizational abilities.
- Must be able to work flexible shifts, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Knowledge of food safety rules is preferred.
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to stand and walk for long periods, bend as needed, and lift up to 40 lbs.
- Should be comfortable working in temperature-controlled areas such as coolers, freezers, and kitchens.

Compensation
The annual salary range for this role is $52,000 to $58,000.
