Job description

Overview

On-Demand Group is seeking a Procurement Specialist for a contract role based in the Greater Minneapolis-St. Paul area. This position focuses on managing technology and service acquisitions within Indirect Sourcing, specifically supporting the IT category. The contract is expected to last through May 2027.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain relationships with internal customers and stakeholders across IT.
  • Oversee the RFI/RFP management process, including planning, coordination, and schedule monitoring.
  • Handle IT hardware/software requests and issue purchase orders accurately.
  • Source quotations, evaluate vendor proposals, negotiate pricing and contract terms.
  • Collaborate with project teams and enterprise stakeholders to align procurement strategies and project costs.
  • Review purchase orders for correctness in coding, pricing, and information.
  • Process invoices and communicate purchase order status and details to customers.
  • Lead supplier development initiatives, savings tracking, and service improvement projects.
  • Assist in drafting and analyzing statements of work (SOWs) to ensure appropriateness for business and technology needs.
  • Build and manage relationships with key technology suppliers, ensuring compliance with sourcing policies.
  • Support onboarding for new suppliers to the procurement system.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain, finance, or related field; or a minimum of 5 years relevant experience.
  • At least 2 years of contract negotiation experience, including handling master agreements.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and detail-oriented skills with a solid work ethic.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex multi-dimensional processes and projects, including leadership roles in sourcing.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, capable of simplifying complex topics across organizational levels.
  • Proven ability to establish and sustain internal and external business relationships.
  • Experience supporting IT initiatives and understanding IT organizational processes and stakeholders.
  • Function as a "product consultant" for identifying and recommending procurement solutions that satisfy business needs.
  • Willingness to learn from senior Strategic Sourcing team members and proactively seek collaborations.
  • Adaptable decision-making in ambiguous environments.
  • Basic accounting knowledge relevant to organizational financial processes.
  • Capacity to evaluate and quantify cost savings from procurement activities.

Preferred Experience

  • Background in indirect sourcing.
  • Familiarity with procurement software platforms such as Ariba, Coupa, or GEP.
  • Experience managing category spend exceeding $1 million with increasing sourcing responsibilities over 3+ years.
  • Project management experience of 1 year or more.

Additional Information

The role requires strict adherence to sourcing policies and procedures while fostering continuous supplier development and improvement efforts. The hourly wage for this position is projected between $35 and $45. Benefits provided by the employer include healthcare, dental, and vision insurance.
