Procurement Officer – Supermarket Section

Job Purpose

The Procurement Officer for the Supermarket Section will be responsible for sourcing and buying merchandise such as fresh produce, groceries, FMCG items, and household products. The role focuses on keeping stock at the right level, securing good quality at competitive costs, and building productive supplier partnerships.

Key Responsibilities

• Find, assess, and negotiate with vendors and suppliers to obtain favorable pricing, quality, and delivery conditions.
• Raise purchase orders in line with stock needs and sales projections.
• Track inventory levels and work closely with store and warehouse teams to avoid both excess stock and shortages.
• Follow up on deliveries to ensure goods arrive on time and handle any supplier delays or mismatches.
• Negotiate supplier contracts, rate agreements, and payment arrangements.
• Research the market to discover new suppliers, product options, and pricing movements.
• Confirm that all purchased items comply with quality, safety, and regulatory requirements.
• Oversee supplier performance and keep vendor files and records up to date.
• Coordinate with finance on invoices, payments, and adherence to budget limits.
• Manage returns, damaged items, and supplier-related claims.
• Keep procurement documentation, contracts, and price records accurate and organized.
• Support promotions by arranging bulk purchases and special supplier deals.
• Ensure purchasing activities follow company policies and applicable local laws.

Experience

Applicants should have 3 to 4 years of experience in procurement or purchasing, ideally within a supermarket, retail, or FMCG setting.

Skills

The position calls for strong negotiation, vendor coordination, inventory awareness, analytical thinking, and the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams under deadlines.
