About Midlands State University

Midlands State University, based in Gweru, Midlands Province, Zimbabwe, invites applications for two Procurement Officer positions within its Procurement Management Unit.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Possession of at least a Higher National Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Purchasing and Supply or Supply Chain Management.
  • Professional certification such as CIPS in Purchasing and Supply Chain Management is advantageous.
  • Minimum of one year relevant post-qualification experience in procurement.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills are essential.
  • Ability to function effectively as a team member.
  • High attention to detail in work execution is required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Receiving and reviewing requisitions from various user departments.
  • Ensuring completeness and accuracy of specifications, assisting departments in specifying needs appropriately.
  • Requesting quotations via the Electronic Government Procurement System (e-GPS).
  • Creating priced requisitions within the system and forwarding them to the Planning Office for approval.
  • Conducting audit-compliant Electronic Quotation Box (EQB) openings.
  • Preparing Cost Comparative Schedules (CCS) for submission to the Procurement Specialist.
  • Conducting price benchmarking with credible and competitive suppliers.
  • Converting purchase requisitions into official purchase orders.
  • Monitoring and expediting processing and delivery of procurement orders.
  • Maintaining thorough filing of procurement records and proceedings.
  • Performing other duties as assigned by the Procurement Specialist.
