Overview
Join the centralized procurement team at John Paul Construction as a Procurement Officer supporting all German operations. This crucial role involves managing procurement activities related to sourcing, purchasing, and coordinating materials and services for construction projects, including indirect and overhead expenses. Collaboration occurs frequently with German suppliers and the central procurement team based in Ireland, requiring excellent communication skills in both German and English. Occasional travel to Dublin is necessary for meetings and alignment sessions.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and process purchase orders for construction materials and services via the Business Central ERP system based on approved requisitions.
- Engage with German suppliers to confirm orders, negotiate delivery timelines, and resolve minor issues.
- Assist in compiling RFQs and organizing tender enquiry documentation for projects in Germany.
- Monitor delivery schedules and coordinate with site teams in Germany to ensure timely arrival of materials.
- Maintain procurement records—including contracts, supplier files, and invoices—ensuring compliance with company policies and German regulatory requirements.
- Support cost-monitoring efforts and verify supplier invoices for accuracy.
- Collaborate with Accounts Payable to address non-compliant or disputed invoices.
- Generate procurement status reports and keep up-to-date trackers of German procurement activities.
- Serve as the primary procurement liaison for Germany, aligning local activities with central procurement strategy and standards.
Qualifications & Skills
- Degree or vocational qualification in Construction Management, Supply Chain, Business, or a closely related discipline.
- At least one year of experience or internship in procurement, construction, or a related sector.
- Basic knowledge of procurement processes, construction materials, and supplier relationship management.
- Proficient in MS Office; familiarity with procurement or ERP systems, particularly Business Central, is advantageous.
- Fluent German language skills (native or near-native) combined with strong English communication abilities.
- Strong organizational skills with capacity to manage multiple priorities effectively.
